My Top Things for on the Beach

 1. Umbrella time! The more I stick to the shade the better things go for me! Being in the heat at the beach is bad enough.  However, if I am in the heat AND sitting in the sun I am even worse. That is the perfect combination for me to feel heat sick. And no body wants to deal with that, so it's much easier to have an umbrella for me!

2. A spray bottle. (Make sure you add water before heading to the beach! Sea water doesn't work so well in a spray bottle.) A spray bottle is perfect for *spritzing (That's *misting for those who aren't up on their Pennsylvania Dutch talk!) yourself with water.  It helps keep you cooler while being in the shade!

3. Sunscreen.  The higher the spf the better off I am. And then I apply.... and reapply.... and reapply!

4. A cooler filled with ice cold water. Drinking the cold water helps to keep my core temp down.

5. Since I'm hypoglycemic I keep plenty of munchies in the cooler to keep my blood sugar level.

6. A chair to keep me up and off the sand, which ends up feeling rock hard to me, after having sat on it for too long.

Headache, and Nightmare, and Playdate Oh my!

Last night was a HORRIBLE night of sleep for me. I felt like I was rolling over all night long. That was even with my Ambian in me. I'm not sure if I was too hot or if it was the nightmare that woke me, that left me unsettled.

I had a dream that my happy little family boarded a plane, on our happy little way to Disney World, and suddenly the plane was falling out of the sky with us in it and we weren't so happy anymore. In the last few seconds of the dream I was trying to reassure my daughter and tell her and my husband that I loved them. And then I woke up, panting for breath, with tears rolling down my face.

Sheesh! The dream was so vivid that it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. So I could totally understand why that would keep me from getting any "good" sleep for the rest of the night.

Needless to say, I woke up with a headache. I feel as if someone put a band around my head and is trying to tighten it while, simultaneously trying to stuff it way too full of cotton. The headache combination and the fatigue is a great combination for brain fog for me!

Fortunately, my girly is having a friend come over to play for half the day today. The girls always play wonderfully together. So, I think I should be able to actually relax once I have given them some open play items. Like water! Oh, gosh my girly could play with water for hours. Add a friend into the mix and, hopefully, I'll get to be an observer of their fun and not have to actively keep them busy. Which means some time for me to get rid of a headache....Here's hoping!

Fun at the Beach!

We spent the week, as a family, at an aunt's beach house. We had so much fun!

We spent time playing miniature golf. My girlie is just like me... She got bored about ten holes in and stopped trying!
My adorable husband was not so willing to let me take this picture but gave in. :o)
L playing in the wade pool.
Seashell hunting. They were everywhere!
Wave jumping with daddy and grandma.
She never learned the art of picking the shells up before the next wave came in!
These wind chimes were huge! They made the perfect sound!
Sunset on the dock. It felt like we spent half our time out there watching jellyfish float by.
One of my favorite pictures of the trip!!
I'm such a nerd! I was fascinated by the sand crab we found.  The orange bits are eggs! There had to be close to a thousand eggs!

The weather was beautiful! See the gray tower?  It's, one of two, cement towers at the beach we went to.  They were built during WWII to keep watch for German war ships. Another thing I was fascinated by! Unfortunately, they need to be cleaned up so we were able to go up them.

Lounging on the dock while I crab-fished.
My first "catch" brought up two crabs at once! From that point on my daughter and I were in competition mode!

Me rocking my first crab catch. I guess I shouldn't tell people that I went to the beach and caught crabs. It may be taken the wrong way!

L was out cold, in the car, within a few minutes. She slept for almost the whole hour trip from Rehobeth beach to Ocean City Maryland's boardwalk. Which meant blessed silence for my husband and I in the car!
One of many crane games that L played.

Happy Birthday

Today I turn 32! And, honestly, it doesn't feel any different than 31 felt!

At 22 my future goals had been to marry, my then boyfriend, and be a stay at home mom to the three or four kiddos that we were going to have. Beyond that I didn't have anything else very concrete. I just knew that I would be happy, visit Ireland someday, and live my life to the fullest that I could.

At 22 if you had told me that I managed to marry, my then boyfriend, and be a stay at home mom to my one child, I would have been happy for myself but wondered what happened. And if you had told me that I would be living in pain, of varying degrees, every day of my life I would have seriously questioned your sanity.

So, here I am at 32 and not living out all of my 22 year old dreams. A person might think that something like that would get to me. Nope.

I just think my dreams have been tweaked a little. It's like expecting to go on a trip to Spain, all your life, and finding out that you've gotten on the wrong boat and are going to Italy instead. The trip to Italy will still be amazing, just in a different way than the trip to Spain that was expected to be.

And I can't wait to see where my trip takes me next! (Especially with my daughter and husband by my side!)
