IPL Therapy Being Used at The Mayo Clinic

The Mayo Clinic Blog put up a post about a new treatment for dry eye. Intense Pulsed Light Therapy is being used, at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, for patients who have tried other various therapies to relieve their dry eye.

The blog post describes the therapy in this way...

"IPL uses bursts of light directed at the lower eyelids and upper cheek areas that heat the eyelid glands that are blocked with stagnant secretions. The physician is then able to manually express the stagnant material from the eyelids."

An interesting new therapy. There was also a video, which I've added to the bottom of this, which explains the therapy in more detail, if you are interested in viewing it.

Thank you for posting this! I hadn't heard of it before. I'd like to think that there is some hope for my extremely dry, constantly burning eyes.

New therapies, for these things, are always a good thing!
